Still The One

Hey y'all we've been living in Jersville for the last month and its time we gave him some love. Last night we shared some Friendly's ice cream and a few good laughs with our buddy Jerry.

"My husband bought me Dance With Me: The Best of Orleans for Christmas and I've been happily humming along to it ever since. As I mentioned in a previous post, John Hall of Orleans is now a Democratic Congressman who got great election exposure on The Colbert Report. There are great liner notes on this CD and lots of pictures of the guys in the band then (1975) and now (1997). Even with the beards they kinda always looked like a friendly bunch of guys!"

Customize It!

I'm really psyched about DJ Swamp's jet black sampler. The ill goth DJ from hell. This dude lit his turntables on fire when I saw him...amazing.

Yikes!

Texas Judge Rules Inmate Who Plucked Out Own Eye And Ate It 'Crazy' But Sane

3 Shermans

Cindy, William, and uh, Sherman. Three Shermans that I've been thinking about lately. I'm most excited about the last of the three. We've been running all manner of sounds through this badboy. We put an acoustic guitar inside and out popped a a demon. We put in drums and out popped a screaming skull.

Love at First Bite

Wham! Ouch!

For those extra smashed potato Sugar Hill vocals.

The ultimate synth for the penultimate track

Working on a track right now that combines all of the best elements of Seal, Phil Collins, Flea, a war with machines, getting hit on the head, sheep, koto drums and rain.
The Wolf just tracked a nasty little number on the bass and Mr. Anand Wilder tricked it out with a little Prophet 5 synth. We're borrowing this one but I've got to get me one of these!
I highly recommend getting your hands on these fine buttery knobs....
Gills like a fish.

Hearts and Bones

I bought a trout for dinner but decided instead to make Guacamole.
5 avocados, Lime juice, Cilantro, Tomato, Onion, 1 Clove of Garlic, a Jalapeno pepper.
I then ate peanut butter while listening to producer Russ Titelman work on Chaka Khan's "Ain't Nobody" and Steve Winwood's "Higher Love." These two songs contain some of the finest recordings of percussion I've ever heard. Russ Titelman ran 1982 with his smooth, smooth sound.

Butter Luck

Been toying around with a song title... "Butter Luck"
I think it sounds gross and it makes a tingly feeling in the mouth when spoken. All good song titles should tingle.

A Classic

One of my all time favorite movies. How often does one get to direct their own death scene?

Dick's Sporting Goods

Foot Locker! I love the shoes. I love the fact that the employees wear referee jerseys and everything but wft I JUST CAN'T HANG WITH THE PRICES!! Last week I needed to get a real p.h.a.t. pair of Jordan IIVs
I totally bought them but they did not improve my game AT ALL! I mean I was hitting airballs and I was getting schooled left and right by Ira and his elbowtastic-wonky-Micky Rourke- wrestler skills. This never used to happen. I was, like, the 9th best player on  my high school JV basketball team.
So OMG, if you think that getting a new pair of p.h.a.t. Jordan IVs from Foot Locker is going to improve your game... THINK AGAIN! Shop Dick's Sporting Goods for great deals on guns, racketballs, and AND 1 sneakers.

Greetings!

Hello fans of Yeasayer!
Interesting fact:
Did you know that "Blog" is an abbreviation for "Web Log?"
This makes things much more cooler, isn't it?

Enough history lessons though :)lol, Let's get fun!

So here I am, all alone in a cabin in the woods. How do I mentally prepare for a day of recording with just myself?

Photobucket

Well preparation is really important. You must do a lot of thinking, and stretching too.
Think outside the box! lol. ;)

First order of business, getting dressed for the day:

I am thinking jeans are too fancy for being alone in a cabin, so I remembered, "A ha!" I recently purchased a pair of Medium Size, Grey Sweatpants from Foot Locker in Kingston, NY. For those Yeasayer fans not familiar with Foot Locker, this is a great store that you should definitely check out! Yes, they have shoes and shoes, running shoes, soccer shoes and cleats, basketball shoes, and even casual fun shoes for parties. But what you might not realize is that they have really cool accessories too, like socks,  headbands, and wristbands, those are good too! lol

I notice that the rest of the band decided to get super organized while I was back in New York. They got a Dry Erase board and started to write ideas for song titles and album titles on it. Great idea guys! Every song should definitely have a title. So I thought to catch up I should start brainstorming some ideas after I ate breakfast. Here are the titles I thought of:

Sugar in the Raw
Recycling Ain't Easy
Stove Won't Light
I (Like my Cereal Hot)

Sometimes inspiration can be from things that are right around you!

Well, time to get to work! See you soon!

Captain's Log star date March 3 2009 signing off! Singing on! lol:)
